Step 1: Prepare the Patio Area
Measure and mark the area where you want to install the patio. Clear any existing vegetation or debris from the area using a shovel.
Step 2: Excavate the Area
Dig a trench about 6 inches deep within the marked area. Make sure the trench is level and compact the soil at the bottom.
Step 3: Add a Gravel Base
Add a layer of gravel to the trench, ensuring it is evenly spread and compacted. Use a rake to level the gravel.
Step 4: Lay the Paving Stones
Start laying the paving stones from one corner of the trench. Place each stone tightly against the previous one, ensuring they are level and aligned. Use a rubber mallet to tap the stones into place.
Step 5: Fill the Gaps
Once all the stones are in place, fill the gaps between them with sand. Use a broom to sweep the sand into the gaps, ensuring they are completely filled.
Step 6: Compact the Patio
Using a compactor or by walking on the patio, compact the paving stones into the sand and gravel base. This will ensure stability and prevent shifting.
Step 7: Finishing Touches
Clean any excess sand from the surface of the patio. Add any desired finishing touches, such as edging or decorative elements, to enhance the overall appearance.
Step 8: Enjoy Your New Patio
Once everything is in place and the patio is fully set, you can now enjoy your newly paved restaurant patio!
